a wedding is too loooong an event filled wit scouting for clothes, for jewels, for footwear, for accessories, for many inevitable necessities and more shopping! So if movies and books and serials can be made on such a subject why not a blog i say!
therefore putting my right hand forward, i now start the chronicles of the wedding shopaholics lakshmi and divya punctuated wit guest appearances by geetha madhusudan (the bride's mother). the former 2 are pawns in the helpless n totally intoxicating game o' shopping (below 4-5k ie.). guest appearance by geetha madhu is for high budget expenses.
so, there we were, last weekend on a full fledged shopping spree with our front-end shopping lists in the bag and a lot of miscellaneous items in our minds.
destination 1: kalpadruma
it was like a treat for the badly starved cannibal. handloom materials from all over the country - ikat, mangalgiri, kota, kalamkari, vegetable dye print, kantha work materails, in silk and cotton....... wished we could have taken them all. But alas! we were on a mission and moreover, on a budget! she picked up a few mangalgiri n vegetable dyed materials while i grabbed more mangalgiri materials in all possible shades. I walked out with more than what I wanted.
destination 2: nalli
nalli has been our all time favorites frm college days - georgette (plain n printed), chiffon (plain n printed), jute cotton, jute silk, raw silk, silk cotton, polycot, ikat, kalamkari, banaras silk, bissi-lissi, varieties of crepe, pure cotton, kanchi cotton, printed silk, and more..... this time however, we didnt get wat we had in mind. so we bought wat had our names "virtually" written on them. Result - we still have the pending items on our shopping list. But we have more clothes than we bargained for.
Now, I pray tht The Lord above keeps my blogs away from people who frown up on impulsive shopping. and frm vicky's (groom) father who asked us "do u gals do a lot of impulsive shopping?". "no way uncle!!!", pipped up divya and lakshmi... "oh thank you God, Vicky is safe", uncle must have thought.
And I pray tht Lord keeps reminding me tht its lakshmi who is getting married my cupboard's over flowing already and there are sooooooooo many things still pending on the list.
