She hadn’t been sure if this day would come. But it had, and she had had the most memorable dinner ever finishing with her most favorite chocolate mousse for dessert. As she had always wanted, he suggested walking on the sands and she readily agreed to the suggestion. She was wading through the waters under the moonlight and unconsciously picked on chasing the little crabs along the shore.
He did not hurry to keep up with her; instead retreated to observe her movements from a distance taking in the wholeness of the picture in front of him. The wind swiped through her hair and whipped it about her shoulders as she merrily hopped and swayed and pivoted along the shore, making it an impeccably pleasurable sight to watch. The smile she portrayed and the meaningless conversation she carried on demanded more control over his emotions that seemed to reach the acme. To him, she bore an air of ostentatious character that blended well with her looks and voice. He knew perfectly well that under this carefree girl he was looking at was another girl who bore distinct character of virtues, maturity and purpose. And he admired both the faces with utmost delight.
They had reached the beach-view shade when she gently turned around and caught his dismayed look. That brought her nonsensical chatter to halt as a deep pink shade luminously spread over her cheeks. She averted her eyes towards the sea again and feigned sudden interest in the ocean view. Quick to observe the abrupt transformation in her bearing, he approached her with his hand held out towards her. She placed her own finger too gently over his hand barely touching his palm. However, too quick to allow her the time to re-think her action, he moved in to stand close to her, placing his hands on her hips which drew a soft gasp from her. Together, slowly, but steadily, they moved rhythmically to unheard music; his eyes on her and her eyes focused on his shirt button. They moved to and fro, left and right; she was ricocheted to take a steady spin and back into his arms which he took as an opportunity to hug her closer and tighter to him. Her insides lurched and as if on stage cue, it began to rain; but neither of them made any attempts to rush for cover. Instead with a new born enthusiasm, their dance picked up rapidity. As the rains abated, the need for a change of activity provoked them to silently leave for the “not yet planned” night.
On reaching his crib, they dried themselves and were serenely invited to share the warmth by the fire. "Serendipity" was her all time romance. And he knew that she immensely enjoyed both the book and the movie. She was thrilled at the prospect of being treated to her most preferred movie and inwardly beamed at his desire to provide her everything that could possibly please her. She sat on the corner of the sofa, her legs pulled against her with her chin resting on her knees. He retreated to the sofa and sat close to her, his hands casually draped around her shoulders. The movie was very amiable and she forgot herself as she sank into the depths of romance ebbing from the scenes. She found comfort and protection in his arms and gently dipped into them.
As if on cue, the power went off abruptly, drawing a squeal from her. She offered to bring the candles from his dining table and as an answer he symbolically removed his hand from her shoulders. She sensed reluctance in his behavior and even as she thought about it, she blushed to the roots of her hair and was thankful for the darkness. She picked up the candles and the candle stand. A movement behind her caught her attention and as she turned with panic in her heart a loud thunder threw her forward seeking protection.
She crashed into him, her head buried in his chest and his arms around her possessively protecting her. She looked up and saw his silhouette in the moonlight from the windows. However his expression was unreadable. She took a step backward involuntarily and realized he had moved closer. She took another step behind and found him moving towards her again. And with her final step she found herself leaning on the wall. She tried not to look at him when his final step bought him physically linked to her. He slowly pinned her to the wall holding her hands in his own against the wall. Her heart was hammering within herself but she was defenseless against what was going to happen.
He slowly bent down to whisper in her ears. "I have been wanting to do this all day"..... With that, his lips covered hers. Her heart lurched, her stomach flipped, her intestines twisted and her palpitations augmented; she was overwhelmed by an indescribable emotion that she shivered when his hands moved slowly behind her to engulf her in a fierce hug. He tightened arms around her and deepened his kiss. And she closed her eyes.
The rest is silence!!!!! "Yesterday was a dream of happiness, and tomorrow would be a vision of joy. Today is all that matters". And they lived "today" to the fullest.
"Whispers in the morning
After a sweet romantic night
I still can feel your kisses
And your arms that held me tight
I feel the passion of your love
And warmth when you embraced
As we danced in the moonlight
Two bodies as one could be traced
Your lips sealed with mine
I let myself fall
What could be a more better sign?
You are the greatest of all"
